My Story
Hello. My name is Caroline. I’m a woodland owner and nature enthusiast. My passion for green wood working has allowed me to spend lots of time in woodland and I have developed a deep appreciation of all the benefits this brings. Immersing yourself in nature is one of the simplest and rewarding forms of self care. Not everyone has the time, opportunity, experience or space to camp out for lengths of time but even a walk among trees in a local park can be beneficial.
I want to provide unique experiences to enjoy nature in different ways and I’m lucky enough to be able to offer that. Our family have had the pleasure of managing this beautiful woodland for 14 years. This is a space that has provided relaxation and escape for anyone who visits and I am proud to be able to share this with you.
The Wild Woods are located near Coalburns NE40 and are a 15 minute drive from Newcastle Upon Tyne. Despite being so close to a city, the tranquility of the space provides you with a sense of isolation and peace.
Managing and caring for the woodland has been an ongoing family project and funds raised from visitors to the woodland go back into helping us maintain the area for future generations to enjoy.
What we offer
Wild camping from £75 pp
Group wild camping weekends for everyone from total beginners to experienced campers. We run women only groups, mixed groups and family groups.
Events are announced via website, Instagram or facebook and run mostly during the spring and summer months. These events are suitable for anyone as full instruction and support is given throughout. No specialist equipment is needed and a full packing list is provided upon booking. These events are a great way to meet like-minded people and enjoy as much or as little interaction as you like! Our wild camps are about experiencing wild camping your way, stepping outside of your comfort zone whilst still being in a safe, supported environment.
Woodcraft For Sale
All of my Woodwork is is from wind-fallen trees or trees felled for safety in my own woodland.

Women only wild camping weekend
Come and enjoy a beautiful relaxed weekend in the woods with a group of like-minded women.
You will learn about how to set up a secure and comfortable space to sleep, whether it be tent, hammock or just under the stars! Enjoy campfire cooking with evening meal and breakfast provided, learn flint and steel fire lighting and help keep a campfire going all weekend. You can even join in with some woodland crafts such as wood weaving or whittling.
The aim of the weekend is to switch off, relax and allow nature to take all weekly stresses away. Booking through contact form.
Woodland Spoon Carving Workshop
Sunday 13th July 10am- 4pm
£60 pp
Spoon Carving Workshop
Join talented local woodworker Rachel Bainton for a beautiful day in the woods and learn to carve your own spoon.
You will learn to select the right piece of wood then design, saw, axe and carve your spoon! The hours will fly by as you whittle away the day by the campfire surrounded by the joys of nature.
All tools are provided plus bottomless campfire team coffee and biscuits. Please provide your own packed lunch, sensible footwear and warm clothes.
As with all events, full directions are given to attendees before the event.
